Showcasing Innovation in Urban Development
The DIDYMOS-XR project was prominently featured at the Smart City World Expo Congress and Tomorrow.Mobility 2024, held in Barcelona between November 5th and 7th. This esteemed event serves as a global platform for urban innovators to showcase their initiatives, technologies, and solutions aimed at creating smarter, more sustainable cities. The Congress unites industry leaders, government representatives, and academics from all over the world to exchange ideas and collaborative insights to shape the cities of tomorrow.
Project Showcase and Partner Engagement
At this year’s expo, our project partners from i2CAT, alongside experts in Digital Twin creation and FIWARE, presented the DIDYMOS-XR project and shared our first results with an enthusiastic audience. Rahul Tomar, Managing Director of the project partner Digital Twin Technology GmbH presented DIDYMOS-XR during the session Startup Pitches – AI & Real-Time Monitoring Driving Urban Evolution. His presentation highlighted the developments carried out in city-scale digital twin creation, urban simulation, and more, within the scope of DIDYMOS-XR. Demonstrating the potential of advanced XR (extended reality) technologies to enhance urban living, DIDYMOS-XR is a pivotal step towards integrating digital innovation within smart city frameworks. Our project aims to revolutionise the way urban environments are modeled, analyzed, and experienced, providing remarkable tools for decision-making, planning, or smart tourism. Ivan Huerta, Research Line Lead from i2CAT, presented DIDYMOS-XR with a talk entitled Research in the Development of Digital Twins for Mobility, alongside Romain Guesdon from Ficosa. This showcased how the DIDYMOS-XR Project is advancing the enabling technologies for large-scale digital twin reconstruction, and their impact on the future of mobility.
Additionally, the presence of partners from Ficosa and Neàpolis at our booths was invaluable, spurring novel discussions and enriching the experience for attendees. Their engagement highlighted the collaborative spirit of our project.
